Reiki says: Just for today, do not anger. And I am angry. A lot.
Reiki didn’t take my anger away, but helped me meet it.

The first Reiki principle says: just for today, do not anger.

Anger. What does it actually mean? Let me first come back to the definition, because I feel that sometimes we dive into meanings without even checking them. We use words that may sound familiar, spiritual, psychological, or simply trending, but sometimes with more harm than awareness.

(… here comes my anger again, the one rooted in the feeling of injustice, because come on, the power of sharing words is so important and sometimes we really forget about it. And I am smiling now, because you know what? Even while writing about anger, anger is already showing me where it lives in me. Told you: being human beyond any spiritual label.)

According to the APA Dictionary of Psychology, anger is an emotion characterized by tension and hostility, typically arising from frustration, perceived injustice, or real or imagined injury.

And when I read this definition, one part almost had already chosen itself for this text:

tension arising from perceived injustice.

So this is the part I want to stay with today. Not all of anger. Not every layer. Just this one, because it is the one that came forward while I was writing.

This sense of injustice I mentioned at the beginning has been with me in many forms.

I remember being little and asking myself why someone gets something I really, really want while not behaving in the proper way, while I am doing everything as I should and still I do not have that thing.

I was taught to be a good girl. Good scores, good behavior, not too many problems. Of course, it did not always work perfectly, because I had a lot of tomboy energy in me, but still, there was this belief that if I do things properly, life should somehow answer properly too.

And life does not always work like this.

So later, the same question came back in many adult forms.

Why does someone have easier projects at work, no pressure, good money, while I am getting to the point of a nervous breakdown and have to leave to take care of my health?
Why does someone move from one relationship to another, while I have been alone for so many years?
Why does someone show life on Instagram in a way that I feel is not real, and I am angry that this is how things work?

I could write a long list of these “why them and not me” thoughts. We all have our own versions of them. And I do not want to pretend that everything in the world is fair, because it is not. Some things are deeply unfair. Some situations should make us angry. Anger can be a sign that we still feel, that we still care, that something inside us knows that life should not be built on harm, manipulation, violence or lies. But in my everyday practice I started to notice something more important.

Very often, when I was asking “why them?”, I was moving away from myself. I was looking at someone else’s life, timing, visibility, relationship, business, way of being, and slowly losing contact with my own.

And this is where Reiki started to show me something. Not by taking anger away, but by making it visible.

I saw this very clearly in the way I was creating my work.

I have been building my brand for four years. I had ideas, materials, a way of seeing Reiki, a way of understanding daily practice, but communication to the outside was often something I left for later. I was focusing on sessions, teaching, the studio, being with people in real practice.

From time to time I would show up on social media. Someone was always interested in my work, so I was also kind of telling myself that it was fine. And as a typical Projector in Human Design, I was waiting to be seen, for recognition, for invitation.

But sometimes this waiting was not peaceful at all. There was bitterness in it.

After some changes in my life, I started to focus much more on online work. And again, it took me some time to release this feeling of injustice around what I was seeing on social media.

Because the more I was looking at what someone else does, the more irritated I became. The more I was irritated, the further away I was from what I wanted to create.

Often it was not even about that person.

It was about the fact that I knew someone already had something I wanted. They were already there, and I wanted to be there too. I wanted to have the clarity, the audience, the flow, the consistency, the language, the ease.

So instead of creating from my own place, I was pushing. And energy really does not like pressure.

When I create from pressure, I can feel it immediately. My words are not mine anymore, I start to think too much, compare too much, control too much. And even if something looks productive from the outside, inside I am no longer in contact with the reason why I wanted to create it in the first place.

So this is what this principle started to mean for me.

Just for today, do not anger does not mean that anger will not appear.
It means that when anger appears, I can notice where it is taking me.

Is it showing me something true?
Is it showing me a boundary?
Is it showing me a desire I did not allow myself to want?
Is it showing me that I feel unseen?
Is it showing me that I gave too much attention to someone else’s path and not enough to my own?

This changed a lot for me.

Because then anger is not only a problem. It becomes information. It shows me where I am not with myself, not with my own rhythm.

And once I see it, I can come back to what I want to create as an expression of who I am, not from anger showing up as irritation, but from love.

To the next step. To “just for today”.

Because eventually, the most beautiful part of all of it is what comes from acting from the depth of the heart. To create not because I need to prove something, but because something in me wants to be shared.

And yes, sometimes the person who irritates me the most is also the person who shows me most clearly what I desire. Once I recognize this, I can stop giving them my energy through irritation and instead ask: What does this person or situation have that I long for, or what kind of world do I wish to live in?

And with this recognition, I see how this anger softens. I can hear “just for today, do not anger” and embody it not as a withdrawal, but as recognition.

So maybe this is enough for today. Not to never feel anger again or to become someone perfectly calm, but to notice when anger appears and ask what it is trying to show me, and to see where I moved away from myself.

Reiki says: Just for today, do not anger. And I am angry. A lot. But I do not see it as something wrong anymore. I see it as something that can bring me back to myself. Because anger is a blessing too.

If this text moved something in you, maybe this is also an invitation to begin your own conversation with Gokai.

This is one of the reasons why I created a program 21 Gokai. Not to give you another thing to achieve, but because I know how much I once needed a hand like this. A structure. A small daily return. A place where I could ask myself better questions instead of going again and again into the same old stories.

Maybe it can shorten the path a little. Not in a forceful way, because some things still need their own time, but in a more conscious way.

I create these tools and I use them myself, because we are human. We forget, react, compare… we want to already be there. We get angry, worried, impatient, lost in what is happening outside.

And this kind of honest conversation with ourselves is deeply needed.

Especially for those of us who also work with the spiritual aspect of our being, because it is so easy to turn spirituality into another external compass. Another teacher, another method, another sign, another thing that will tell us where to go.

But the way of love, at least for me, needs an inner compass. Not one set on everything outside.

Just for today is enough.
