I’m still working on this content.

But since you’re already here, I invite you to try the Gasshō meditation.

Gasshō literally means “two hands coming together.” It marks the beginning of every meditative practice in Reiki — the so-called prayer position. Gasshō meditation was traditionally taught in the Usui system and helps bring more focus and clarity into one’s life. It also reminds us of the state of non-duality — the understanding that there is no separation between us and the energy we work with.

By practicing Gasshō, we invite more gratitude and reverence into our daily life, becoming more present in each moment. It also helps calm the constant stream of thoughts.
Usui instructed his students to practice this meditation every morning and evening. Try to include it in your routine  — let it become part of your rhythm.

Below, you’ll find instructions on how to practice Gasshō.

Gasshō Meditation
Sit comfortably with your spine straight. Close your eyes. Bring your hands together in front of your chest in the Gasshō position. Focus your attention on the point where the two middle fingers meet. Let everything else go. If your mind wanders, simply notice it and gently bring your focus back to the place where the middle fingers touch. Repeat the Five Reiki Principles — aloud or silently in your mind: Just for Today: Do not Anger Do not worry Be Grateful Be Honest in your Work Be Compassionate to Yourself and Others. Tip: Be gentle with yourself. If keeping your hands in the Gasshō position throughout the whole meditation feels uncomfortable, allow your hands — still together — to rest in a more natural position and continue your practice.

“The secret art of inviting blessings. The spiritual medicine of all diseases. Morning and night, join your hands in prayer and repeat these words out loud and in your heart for the improvement of body and mind.” — Mikao Usui
